Called Mr. B by those who knew him, George Balanchine is considered the foremost contemporary ballet choreographer. Balanchine created over 400 works in his lifetime. Timeless Ballets By Balanchine offers three of his best with scores performed by the Charlotte Symphony. Patricia McBride, Balanchine protégée and former New York City Ballet star, restages the romantic La Sonnambula, the classical Raymonda Variations and the powerful The Four Temperaments. For those new to Balanchine’s work, this performance is a great introduction to the dance icon, and for those already fond of Mr. B, this performance is a diverse display of his choreographic genius.
