 Wisconsin (1st season)
A native of Milwaukee, Kara received her formal training with Milwaukee Ballet School, where she was the first recipient of the Peter Schetter Award. During her training, Wilkes was invited to the Vail International Workshop where she worked with instructors from the Bolshoi and Paris Opera.
Kara then danced for five seasons with Milwaukee Ballet Company where she danced works by choreographers such as Lila York, George Balanchine and Alonzo King. After working with King, Wilkes participated in his professional intensive program. In 2006, Kara joined Ballet Victor Ullate in Madrid and spent the year touring with the company throughout Spain. After her fulfilling experiences dancing with Chautauqua Ballet, Kara is excited about joining North Carolina Dance Theatre.
