The Adult Division offers a variety of classes in ballet, modern, jazz, Afro-Caribbean, hip-hop and tap for older teens and adults. Flexibility in scheduling is offered in this division to meet the varied needs and interests of this sector of the community. Dance cards are offered in this division.

Adult Beginning Modern
Class includes modern dance basics, essential positions and movement styles. Students explore spatial relationships and rhythmic patterns. Class concentrates on proper body alignment, use of breath, core strength and the development of a beginning technical vocabulary.

Adult Beginning Jazz
Jazz, a form of dance used in musical theater and the commercial entertainment industry is heavily influenced by African-American traditions. With its exciting and ever evolving movement, students will learn rhythm, syncopation, isolation and improvisation. This class introduces students to basic jazz vocabulary and technique derived from classical ballet and modern, and encourages individual expression and style. Students gain strength, flexibility, endurance and coordination while dancing to the upbeat music of today.

Adult Beginning Tap
Class will focus on developing solid tap technique and skills. The focus is on coordination, body alignment, and rhythm. Classes centralize technique, combinations, and choreography.

Recommended for students interested in pursuing tap beyond the elemental level. Students develop skill with more complicated tap rhythms and movements.
