SUMMER Dance Camps
AGES 3-6

Favorite storybook tales come to life through dance, music, crafts and performance at our Summer Dance Camps! Designed for boys and girls ages 3-6, each week-long camp meets from 9 am until 12 noon, Monday through Friday. Each Camp culminates with a fun performance on Friday.

Camps take place at either our main campus, the Patricia McBride & Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance, or Charlotte Country Day School.

Class Descriptions

Dance Camp A: The Little Mermaid & Friends
June 18 – 22, 2012; 9 AM – 12 PM
Ages 3 – 4
Center for Dance location

The Little Mermaid’s underwater world comes to life in this magical dance adventure! Campers enjoy this fairy tale through dance, dramatic play, music, video, and crafts.  As a special treat, a NC Dance Theatre dancer visits the camp as the Little Mermaid to perform and autograph Little Mermaid posters.  The camp culminates in a grand finale dance performance of this wonderful children’s tale. 

Dance Camp B: The Nutcracker Suite
July 9 – 13, 2012; 9 AM – 12 PM
Ages 3 – 4
Charlotte Country Day School location

Join us as we follow Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they journey through the Land of the Sweets in one of the most famous and beloved ballets of all time.  Set to the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky, campers enjoy this whimsical tale through movement, dramatic play, music, video, and crafts.  As a special treat, a NC Dance theatre dancer visits the camp as the Sugar Plum Fairy to perform a solo variation and autograph Nutcracker posters.  The camp culminates in a grand finale performance as the Claras dance with their Nutcracker Princes.

Dance Camp C: Sleeping Beauty & The Prince
July 30 – August 3, 2012; 9 AM – 12 PM
Ages 5 – 6
Center for Dance location

Join us as we learn about the enchanting Princess Aurora, her dashing Prince, and the wicked sorceress Carabosse. Set to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky, campers experience this fairy tale through movement, dramatic play, music, video and crafts. As a special treat, a NC Dance Theatre dancer visits the camp as Princess Aurora to perform and autograph Sleeping Beauty posters. The week’s activities culminate in a finale performance as the Princes and Princesses celebrate a grand royal wedding.

Tuition
$225 per camp. A $20 summer registration fee also applies.
