Class Descriptions

No dance experience is needed unless class is at the intermediate level or it is indicated in the class description.

ADULT BEGINNING BALLET
Experience the joy of movement and creative expression while learning the fundamentals of classical ballet.

ADULT INTERMEDIATE BALLET
Building from the foundations of Adult Beginning Ballet this class increases technique, body alignment and balletic expression.

ADULT INTERMEDIATE TAP
This class expands on beginning tap with more complexity in rhythm, movement and movement sequencing.

AFRO-FUSION
Students experience movement and rhythms from the Caribbean. This exhilarating and fun class fuses traditional African, Caribbean and Latin American movements with classic modern technique from Katherine Dunham. April Berry, former principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and a certified “master” teacher in the Dunham technique, leads the class with live drum accompaniment.

JAZZ DANCE
Students will study rhythm, syncopation, isolation and improvisation while moving to upbeat music. Students gain strength, endurance, flexibility and coordination.

MODERN DANCE
Class focuses on use of breath and core strength while developing spatial relationship and awareness, rhythmic patterning and the beginning of the vocabulary of modern dance.

POWER DANCE
"Getting it all done" has never been such fun with this all inclusive ‘work out’ class. Using techniques found in body sculpting, power dance and yoga, this class will focus on reshaping the muscles, strengthening cardio vascular fitness and increasing flexibility.
