North Carolina Dance Theatre Promotes
Brooke McCarthy to Director of Development

Charlotte, N.C. – North Carolina Dance Theatre recently promoted Brooke McCarthy to director of development. McCarthy served in the position of associate director of development since 2008.

Prior to her work with NC Dance Theatre, McCarthy was a development officer at Signature Theatre Company in New York City and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Conn. “Brooke’s passion for development as well as the performing arts creates an ideal director,” said Dance Theatre Executive Director Doug Singleton. “Her strong leadership provides a foundation for Dance Theatre to increase support for our artistically excellent performances, dance training and community activities.”

As associate director of development, McCarthy increased Dance Theatre’s contributed income from government grants and foundations. She successfully engaged the National Endowment for the Arts, resulting in an increase in basic operating support as well as American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding. McCarthy secured and continues to mange relationships with many of Dance Theatre’s corporate partners including Accenture, Bank of America, Goodrich, McGuireWoods, US Airways and Wachovia/Wells Fargo. She also manages relationships with state and local funding agencies, including the Arts and Science Council and North Carolina Arts Council.

Having spent many summers on Hilton Head Island, S.C., McCarthy moved to Charlotte in 2008. A native of Colorado, she graduated Cum Laude from the University of Northern Colorado. McCarthy can be reached at 704.372.0101 x113 and bmccarthy@ncdance.org.

North Carolina Dance Theatre has established itself as one of America’s premier dance companies. Led by internationally acclaimed President and Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, NC Dance Theatre is based on strong dancers, high energy and a versatile repertoire that ranges from classical ballet to bold contemporary works. NC Dance Theatre School of Dance parallels the professional company’s tradition of excellence.

North Carolina Dance Theatre broke ground on its new 34,000 square foot facility, the Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance, in April 2009. Located at 701 North Tryon Street, the facility will house the Company’s rehearsal and administrative spaces, School of Dance and costume shop. NC Dance Theatre expects to move into the Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance in spring 2010, with a grand opening scheduled for fall 2010.

North Carolina Dance Theatre is supported, in part, with operating support by the Arts & Science Council. Dance Theatre is also supported by individuals, corporations, and local and national foundations, the North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
