A fashion and dance event benefiting North Carolina Dance Theatre
Charlotte, N.C. –The third-annual Runway for the Ballet is Sunday, November 8, 2009, in the Booth Playhouse at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Runway for the Ballet features four lines of fashion from the boutiques of Grubb Properties’ Morrison Shopping Center, with excerpts from North Carolina Dance Theatre’s Innovative Works peppered between the fashion lines. Boutiques featured are Black & Blue, Capitol, ChezElle, EMartini and Scout and Molly’s.
Elements of Runway for the Ballet remain the same as the two previous events, such as the lively atmosphere spurred by a DJ and complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. Amelie's French Bakery is providing desserts. Ramona Holloway from the “Matt and Ramona Show” on 107.9 The Link will emcee for the third time. She is being joined by Jimmy Penman, commercial real estate broker and professional voice over actor, who can also be heard on 106.5 The End.
The major shift for this Runway for the Ballet is in fashion focus. Last year the event featured fashions from Neiman Marcus. This year smaller boutiques and shops will be presented. “In this tough economy, we really wanted to showcase small, local businesses to try and give back to the community as well as NC Dance Theatre,” explained fashion show co-chair Dana Cooke.
NC Dance Theatre’s affiliate groups, Opening Night Insiders and Corps de Ballet, are organizing the event and all proceeds will benefit NC Dance Theatre. Tickets include show admission and a reception. Grubb Properties and Morrison Shopping Center are sponsors.
