The word docent is derived from the Latin word docēre, meaning “to teach.” Ballet docents are trained volunteers who help educate the community-at-large about ballet through educational outreach programs. NC Dance Theatre docents will receive comprehensive training through Dance Theatre’s education and outreach department in order to further the public’s understanding of NC Dance Theatre, classic and contemporary ballet, and NC Dance Theatre’s repertory.
