North Carolina Dance Theatre offers two kinds of educational performance opportunities:
Theater Performances –Students visit the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and the Knight Theater in Charlotte for a main-stage production.
Lecture Demonstrations –NC Dance Theatre 2 comes to your school or public venue for an interactive performance.

The popular Innovative Works series goes GREEN ! This year, contemporary choreography meets themes of conservation, pollution, waste and the environment. Based on the successful Green Pieces performed in Chautauqua, N.Y., in 2009, Innovative Works features choreographers Mark Diamond, David Ingram, Sasha Janes and Dwight Rhoden.
Great opportunity for environmental literacy and earth and science curriculum!

Celebrate Dance Theatre’s 40th Anniversary with Director’s Choice! Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux chose Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux by legendary choreographer and Bonnefoux’s teacher and mentor George Balanchine, Satto by former Dance Theatre Artistic Director Salvatore Aiello, and Le souffle de l’esprit by Czechoslovakian dancer turned choreographer Jiri Bubenicek. Coordinating with the centennial celebration of Charlotte artist Romare Bearden, Resident Choreographer Dwight Rhoden presents a world premiere inspired by the life and work of Bearden.

Educational Theater Performance Details
All performances are held at the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and the Knight Theater in Charlotte. Repertoire and artists are subject to change without notice.
Upon receipt of your reservation and payment, you will receive a confirmation letter, directions to the theater and parking information. We are unable to accept payment the week of the performance.
No refunds for absent students, chaperones or groups. In special circumstances, a school group may receive credit for future Educational Theater Performances. If you school is closed due to emergency/weather, every effort will be made to accommodate your school at another performance. No monetary refunds can be issued.
Full payment secures seats at the time of reservation and is required two weeks prior to the performance date.
Note: CMS FOCUS schools may reserve seats for $3 less than regular price.
I am interested in bringing my students to the performance. What do I do now?
1. Get permission from your school.
2. Collect a count of people attending. Call NC Dance Theatre (704.372.0101 x2775) to see if those seats are available.
3. Order your buses 3-4 weeks in advance.
4. Immediately collect funds from your students and chaperones.
5. Make your reservation and payment online, by mail or over the phone. Indicate if you will be paying by check, credit card or purchase order. Immediately send full payment to North Carolina Dance Theatre, Attention, Education and Outreach Department.
6. Receive a confirmation of your full payment and complete reservation.
7. Use your Pointers Guide, a performance resource for educators. Prepare your students for the performance by talking about audience etiquette.
8. At the theater, check in with the ushers (no tickets will be issued). Please let us know the actual number of students and chaperones attending the performance.
Lecture Demonstrations
NC Dance Theatre 2 dancers come to your school or public venue and bring a magical performance to your gym, stage or multipurpose room! This 60-minute narrated performance features excerpts from Dance Theatre’s current classic and contemporary ballets. Audience participation and a question and answer session make this an exciting program for your students!
