Residential Support Services
NC Dance Theatre and Residential Support Services (RSS) partner so that RSS clients become familiar with resources of NC Dance Theatre. The clients experience the creative process of dance and improve their knowledge and ability in creating a dance and performing for others. The program is supported by the Arts and Science Council, the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation, Residential Support Services and St. Gabriel’s Church.
Huntersville Parks and Recreation Summer Camp
The Summer Camp Dance Residency Program will be presented by the Huntersville Parks and Recreation in conjunction with NC Dance Theatre. The program offers students the opportunity to study dance in a high-quality dance education program. Students will also learn about dance as an art form and career through a Behind-the-Scenes trip to the North Carolina Dance Theatre.
Dance Friendships
NC Dance Theatre and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) are now in the second year of a partnership called Dance Friendships. This outreach program is funded through a grant from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation, from the Lucille Giles Endowment Fund, to North Carolina Dance Theatre in
support a Front Porch grant.
This year the partnership began in August with a meet and greet and an open rehearsal viewing at Dance Theatre studios. Throughout the year, Artistic Director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Director of Education April Berry are conducting workshops with the liturgical dance ensembles at FMBC and the student ensemble groups with the NC Dance Theatre School of Dance.
A shared performance will be held at FMBC on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 7 PM.
